If you’re worried your wheel alignment is off, there are some pretty noticeable signs. And, while you’ll naturally get a hunch because of the way your car is driving, these four points are key areas to keep an eye on:
Toe angle is the most commonly needed alignment adjustment. It’s the position of the tires going straight ahead.
Too much toe variation causes dangerous instability while driving, and really increases your tyre wear as the vehicle battles against the angles of your wheels.
Camber is the tilt of the top of the tyre according to how it sits on the road.
Most vehicles camber is set to neutral, or slightly negative camber, to help with tyre wear. But, there are some vehicles that have a more negative camber to help with moving at faster speeds. This can have a huge impact on the way your car functions.
Caster is the front suspension angle when referring to its vertical positioning. And, it’s only set on your front suspension. Although you can’t see it with the naked eye, it’s very important that it’s correctly aligned.
It helps the wheels readjust after turning the steering wheel.
