Audi SOS System B105413

“Emergency call function fault. Function partially available. Please contact workshop.”

Mrs Q wasn’t expecting to see a message like this when she got into her Audi A1, but there it was on the dashboard.

A red SOS indicator had appeared on the roof console, indicating that one of her vehicle’s safety features was no longer fully active.

No driver should ignore an emergency call system warning.

It’s the system designed to automatically place an emergency call following a serious collision. If it stops working, a safety net you’ve likely taken for granted is suddenly no longer in place.

Wanting clarity on what was wrong, Mrs Q took her Audi A1 to Links Automotive, Macclesfield, for expert investigation.

Inside this blog, you’ll discover how our Audi specialists got to the root of the fault, what testing confirmed, and how the Audi SOS system was restored.

The Opening Assessment of the Audi SOS System B105413 Fault

When Mrs Q arrived at Links Automotive, Macclesfield, our Audi specialists began by listening carefully to what she’d noticed.

Understanding a customer’s experience before picking up any tools is central to how our garage approaches every investigation, ensuring we’re looking in the right places from the very start.

Mrs Q described how a warning had appeared on the dashboard, along with a red SOS indicator in the roof console. There had been no previous problems with the car, no recent repairs, and nothing that might have caused the fault.

With her account taken on board, our Audi technicians proceeded with the first round of checks.

These opening checks covered:

  • A detailed visual inspection to identify any visible signs of damage.
  • A system scan to capture any stored or active fault codes.

Nothing of concern came up during the visual inspection. All components looked to be undamaged and correctly in place. After the visual assessment, our team moved on to the system scan.

The system scan was carried out using Audi manufacturer-level technology, with live data from the relevant control modules examined as part of the process.

One fault code was found:

  • B105413, GPS Antenna, open circuit, with an active/static status.

What Does a B105413 Fault Code Indicate?

The B105413 code indicates that the vehicle’s telematics control module has picked up an open circuit in the GPS antenna circuit. This is the antenna that provides the location data Audi’s emergency call system relies on to determine where the vehicle is when an automatic emergency call is made.

Should the system fail to receive a valid GPS signal, the SOS function may be partially operational, with a warning message displayed on the dashboard.

This made it clear that the Audi A1’s telematics control module had found an open circuit in the GPS antenna signal path.

On its own, though, a fault code doesn’t reveal the root cause.

A B105413 GPS antenna fault of this nature could stem from the antenna, the coaxial cabling, a connection issue, or water ingress. Getting to the actual cause of the Audi SOS fault and resolving it correctly required deeper investigation.

How Was the Cause of the B105413 GPS Antenna Fault Confirmed?

With the B105413 GPS antenna fault established, the focus moved to determining what had actually caused it.

A fault code shows where to look, but pinpointing the true cause demands structured testing and careful analysis.

Our Audi technicians began by accessing the manufacturer’s technical information service.

As your local independent Audi specialist, our team has access to the same technology and technical data as the main dealerships. This covers wiring diagrams, current flow diagrams, component specifications, and any technical service bulletins associated with the Audi SOS system B105413 fault.

Using this research, our Audi specialists compiled a focused test plan:

  • Carry out continuity and correct signal path testing on the coaxial cable and wiring running from the GPS antenna to the emergency call module.
  • Inspect every connection in the circuit for signs of poor contact or corrosion.
  • Remove the roof antenna module and inspect it for any evidence of water intrusion or physical damage.

The first stage involved continuity and resistance testing on the wiring between the emergency call module and the roof-mounted GPS antenna. Every result fell within specification, confirming that the cabling and connectors were not the source of the fault.

From there, our Audi experts focused on the roof antenna module. Once the shark fin antenna was removed and inspected thoroughly, they found that the GPS antenna element housed within the module had failed, which accounted for the open circuit flagged by the B105413 fault code.

This failure inside the component itself explained the emergency call system warning. The GPS antenna element had lost the ability to provide a valid GPS signal to the telematics module, meaning the SOS function was only partially available.

The Audi B105413 Fault Fix: Restoring the Emergency Call System

Having confirmed the root cause, our Audi specialists contacted Mrs Q to walk her through the findings in full. We outlined that the GPS antenna within the roof-mounted shark fin module had failed internally, leading to the appearance of the Audi SOS system B105413 warning.

At Links Automotive, Macclesfield, no repair begins without your full understanding and approval. Mrs Q was confident in the findings and gave our team the green light to carry out the repair.

Our Audi technicians then completed the Audi B105413 fault fix:

  • The failed roof antenna module was carefully removed, and the mounting area was assessed for any signs of water damage or deterioration that could affect the new part.
  • A replacement roof antenna module was fitted, restoring the GPS antenna circuit used by the emergency call system.
  • Every electrical connection was checked to make sure it was secure and seated correctly.

With the new module now in position, the Audi emergency call system repair was ready for final verification.

Confirming That the Audi SOS Fault Fix Had Been Carried Out Correctly

Once the new module was fitted, our Audi technicians carried out a detailed series of checks to ensure the Audi SOS fault fix was successful and that the emergency call system was working as intended by the manufacturer.

Our Audi specialists performed the following steps:

  1. Verified that the emergency call function reported normal operation with no active warnings.
  2. Cleared the stored B105413 fault code using manufacturer-level equipment.
  3. Checked that the SOS indicator in the roof console had returned to its normal state.
  4. Ran a complete system scan to confirm that no further fault codes had been recorded.

Each check returned the expected outcome. The GPS antenna circuit tested correctly, the full emergency call system function was confirmed, and no other faults were identified.

Using a careful, structured approach, our team pinpointed the exact cause of the Audi SOS system B105413 fault without any unnecessary part replacements.

The fault was fully investigated, tested, and resolved within a single visit.

Once our Audi experts had confirmed the Audi emergency call system repair was complete, they called Mrs Q to let her know that her Audi A1 was ready for collection.

Mrs Q was impressed with the standard of work, the clear communication at every stage, and the efficient turnaround, all at a better value compared to a main dealer.
